Forest Bathing and Herbal Wine with The Greek Herbalist

  • Panathenaic Stadium Athens Greece (map)

The ancient Greeks drank wine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Although always diluted, wine was both a satisfying beverage and a health tonic, often infused with herbs for flavor and nourishment.

Join The Greek Herbalist for a forest bathing experience at the Panathenaic Stadium in the heart of Athens and learn about ancient Greek herbal medicine and the use of herbal wines.

What is forest bathing? Simply, it is spending time in nature and noticing the sights and sounds around you. This practice can help us feel more grounded in our own lives.

The experience will also include a picnic with a glass of saffron-infused white wine and some snacks. We will talk about how the ancient Greeks used wine as medicine for multiple ailments, both internally and topically. We will end the experience with a toast to Dionysus, the god of wine and celebration, who himself created the first draught of wine as a gift to humankind.

The experience includes:

  • Guided forest bathing experience

  • Two glasses of wine per participant

  • Picnic snacks

  • Fantastic views of Athens!

Things to note:

  • The meeting place will be shared upon registration.

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes. The pathways in this park are not well-paved.

  • Only participants of legal drinking age are invited to attend.

  • The wine is a dry white wine infused with saffron and made by Chimera Wines, a local Greek company. Bottles will be available for purchase.
